Before you call out an engineer you can carry out some simple checks yourself. Only carry out these checks if you are confident that you know what you are doing:
1. Are the heating and hot water timers turned on?
2. Is the pilot light on?(Not applicable on boilers with electronic ignition)
3. Is the gas turned on?
4. Is the boiler pressure properly set?
5. Is the thermostat turned down?
6. Has someone switched off the power in error?
7. Has the fuse tripped at the boiler?
8. Has a fuse blown or RCD?
9. Is the central heating pump operating?
10. Are the radiators Cold at the top? - This is possibly due to air trapped in the radiator and may be solved by bleeding the radiator.

If any of the above do not work then please contact us and we will arrange for one of our plumbers to visit and solve the problem.
FAQ
Are you gas safe registered?
Yes, we are pleased to say our Engineers are Gas Safe Registered. We are also proud to be accredited Worcester Bosch Installers; this allows us to train our Engineers to the highest standards.
Why is my boiler loosing pressure?
There are a number of different reasons why your boiler could be losing pressure. The most common reason for this is usually due to a leak somewhere in the heating system which is not only bad for your boiler, but could cause damage to your home.
To identify a drop in pressure, check the water pressure gauge found on the boiler. This should be set around 1-1.5 bar when cold. The position set when the boiler was installed is often shown by a red indicator needle. A drop in pressure usually indicates that there is a problem with your system.
As with any other repairs to your boiler, any repairs relating to pressure should only ever be conducted by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
Why do boilers leak?
A leaking boiler can be quite a serious problem and the repairs should only ever be conducted by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
The reasons for a boiler leaking can vary, though it usually indicates that an internal component, such as a seal or valve is broken. It is important to get a leaking boiler looked at by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer as soon as possible, as the leak could cause corrosion or rust or lead to the electrical components within the boiler short circuiting.
Why are my radiators cold in places?
If your gas central heating isn’t warming your home properly, it could be caused by a number of problems, such as; air trapped within the system or system desbris. This is when you’d need to bleed your radiators or consider a Powerflush.
How do I know when to replace my boiler?
It is time to replace your boiler when it breaks down and the parts become uneconomical to replace. A boiler should last between 10 to 15 years.
What If I can smell gas?
Turn off the gas supply at the meter. Open windows, but do not turn any electrical items on or off. Call Cadent on 0800 111 999 in the first instance.
If the leak is on your pipework/equipment (the customer side of the meter) Contact us and we will be happy to send out an Engineer to resolve the problem.
Sometimes a boiler fault can be caused in very cold weather by water freezing in the condensate pipe.
